Creative Critical Reflection

My product challenged many conventions that are found in Christmas music videos. First , most Christmas music videos use snow or are filmed in a snowy area. As I filmed my video in Florida, there was no snow to incorporate in the video . Instead of snow I went a different route and filmed in front of decorated palm trees and showed my true Floridian Christmas spirit. Another way my product challenged the conventions was most Christmas music videos include back up dancers and all out costumes. My music video was completely the opposite of this as everyone was dressed festive but simpl e . T here were a lso only a few actors that told a story instead of having the commotion of dancing in the back. As my product challenged conventions it also used some as well. For example, many Christmas videos include bright lighting and festive accessories . I wore a Santa hat and a festive shirt and filmed the entire video around lit trees and decorated homes. Even though there were not as

Last Christmas Music Video

Finally we are all done with the music video and I had a blast doing this project. This music video had to be one of the highlight projects of the year for me. I was able to incorporate so many good ideas and enhance my editing skills so much! Creating this music video was incredibly stressful but so much more fun then expected. I am so glad that I chose to remain in the same group I was in before and even though we struggled through some parts we all worked as a team and created an awesome video. I can't wait for the next project so I can use all my new skills to make an even better product. Anyways go listen to Last Christmas and enjoy our video. Peace Out!

Finally we are all done!

Hey it’s Lola again back at it. Editing and filming are both done what??? This project has been so much fun with all the creativity we put into it and how much we have all learned because of it. I loved making this music video and even as stressful as it was I still enjoyed the project. I also really liked how many ideas my group could incorporate in our video. I am almost done with the entire project but I wanted to take that last step to make it as good as possible. The last step of this project that I did was export my video. I went through google and used the waffle to publish my music video to YouTube. I have only published a video once before, for my commercial. It took me a while to remember how to do it but after I did, it was easy. I then shared my music video with a few friends and family to get their feedback on it. Most everyone said it was perfect and there was nothing I should change but I did get a few critiques from my dad. He recommended that we should cut down the fir

We Finally Finished Editing?

Filming is done and so is editing for the most part. Yay! I am not the best at editing and even though my skills improved a little from last project, I am definitely weaker when it comes to this part of the project. I am using iMovie to edit my music video which is one of the more familiar editing platforms to me. I did have to re-learn how to use the app though. I used to make videos when I was younger for middle school but I haven’t used the app in a while. I also only used the app for the transitions and music so, I needed to still learn a lot about the app. It took a while for me to learn how to split videos and remember how to overlap music but my group mate sarah refreshed my memory and I was all set. The first thing that I did was get all of the scenes together in order. I then had to cut down the scenes to where it was perfect. I also had to overlap the music so it lined up and was synced to the acting and lip singing in the music video. This part was one of the hardest process

Filmed The Best Christmas Music Video Ever!

Hey it’s me again here’s my filming process part 2. After my group and I got everything set and ready to film we started to actually record the video. As we were at my house, I    had to get everyone costumes but no one fit into anything I had. We made a few things work so everyone fit into their character. I was the main actor in the video so I had to be in almost every scene of the video. I felt like acting in this video was much easier than the last project as I was more comfortable in front of the camera. Throughout the recording my group mates and I had to make a lot of directing decisions to make the film better. One decision I made was to incorporate us in the car before the flashback scene. I thought it made the second half of the scenes flow better and look more real time. The group and I wanted to show a snow scene to make the Christmas vibe pop more. However, because us Floridians have no snow we had to improvise. I bought glitter at the store and thought it would look maybe

We finally filmed???

We finally filmed our music video! I am so glad we finally were able to film the video. Our plan’s definitely changed even more than they already had but it worked out well and we got the filming process completed. I had proposed us filming at a group members home and Lauderdale by the sea. This quickly changed to us filming outside my house only. We filmed the last project at my house as well so it wasn’t as stressful getting the house ready. I however, still haven’t put up any Christmas decorations. I know I’m super late with it this year. Anyway, my neighbor luckily had his house decked out in Christmas decorations so, I asked if we could film in front of it and he agreed. My best friend picked my group members and I up from school and took us to the store. I ran around the store searching for materials to make the heart and props that we could include in our video. I found Santa hats, lights, glitter, and everything I needed to make the heart perfect. After that we had to completel

Surprise ! We all found a day we can actually meet!

Hey it’s me again. My group and I haven’t been able to meet up but our plan is set in stone to meet up tomorrow and film. I haven’t been able to meet up at all this week because of my soccer games and family things. Soccer lately has been my main priority making it hard to manage my time and meet with the other busy members of my group. My group wanted to film sometime next week however, I have three high school games that will take all night. Also midterms week is coming in hot so, I have to start studying for all of those. The only day I could film in the upcoming day’s is Friday so we decided that would be the best option. My friend is going to pick all of us up from school Friday and take us to our first place to film. I thought because my family is late with Christmas decorations this year we could film at another members home that is more decorated. My friend and I will be providing all the transportation to our filming spots which are going to be a festive house and Lauderdale b

So… what happens when your groups always busy!

Hey it’s Lola again. My group and I haven’t been able to film our music video yet. So much has come up through the past few weeks delaying the process. First, we just got done with Thanksgiving break and I was out of town along with the rest of my group so I couldn’t do any filming. Second, my group and I haven’t been able to gather the props we were supposed to yet. I was tasked to gather costumes for the main actor of the music video. I am planning on getting her a festive sweater and jeans. I haven’t been able to get these props yet because our initial actor had something come up and she is not able to attend. So, I have to wait to confirm who our new actor is before I get the outfit. Once the actor is set in stone I am going to go to Target and Macys to look for the right clothes. Another thing was the initial filming spot was going to be Christmas on Las Olas. I however, was not aware that the day of the festival changed from last years date. I found out too late and I already had
