Creative Critical Reflection

Image
This is my creative critical reflection. I had so much fun making this video. It gave me the chance to be creative and work with a friend to create something amazing. Can't wait to see you guys again in A level, peace out for now!

Final Task: Get out

Image
We are finally done with the final project. I had an amazing time with my group creating this film. I am so happy we included our new groupmate Olivia and all stepped out of our comfort zone with this project. Filming a horror film was definetly a challange, but it was extremely fun and worth while. I was able to incorparate many new editing skills into my creation. I was also able to try out new technique and shots with the longer time. This project was the highlight of my year and I cant wait to take the class again next year. Anyways, thats enough for today, peace out!

Re-Editing Blog: Fixed everything with a little editing, finally done!

Finally, I am done doing everything for this film. It took a while but I had so much fun creating this project. I made all the last and final touches on my video today and I’m so excited. We had to re-edit quite a few things but overall it came out pretty good. The first thing I had to re-edit was the titles. Since I had to re-film some scenes in order to give more time for a title to be on screen, I also had to re-edit the titles so they would stay for longer. Now, every title stays on the screen for the same amount of time and is is legible. It took me a while to get the timing down for the titles but when I did, it looked so much better than it previously had. Another thing I re-edited were my transitions. My film was pretty choppy so when watching it the scenes were spread apart weirdly. Using CapCut, I was able to make transitions between scenes smoother and the overall film looked much cleaner. Editing was hard for me since I am not very good at it. Editing throughout this film

Re-Shoot Blog: Some scenes needed a do over

Image
Hey, it’s me again back at it. My group and decided we needed to tweak and re-shoot a few scenes and shots in our film. I based my decisions on what needed to be changed based on some critiques my group got and my own thoughts of the film. So, my group and I met this weekend to tweak what we thought needed to be fixed. I had soccer all weekend long along with work so it was difficult to meet up for long. I found a few hour time window on Saturday night to re-shoot and so did my group members. I first explained to them all the critiques my dad gave us on our video. I talked through each one and we all decided which ones were most effective to our film. My group member did the same thing, walking me through the critiques they received. We took a lot of them into account and fixed them one by one. The one I found most important to fix was the length of the scene for the exit time of the tiles. I had increased the time of the scenes so the titles could appear and exit the screen slower dur

Dad Reviewed my Blog!

My dad is a big fan of me taking this AICE media class. He loved my first commercial film so much that he posted on all over social media. He even  sent the film to a producer to try to get it aired on television. I know, he sounds crazy! I thought though, who would be a better person to critique my film than him. So, I played my dad my film and he had a lot of thoughts, both positive and negative. One thing he liked about the film was the intensity. He said that the opening scene would leave some people frightened. Many movies don’t fulfill this aspect of horror movies so it was definitely a high compliment. He also liked that the film followed the horror genre so well. He mentioned that the dark lighting contrast, the setting and acting that we did really helped create a scary tone. He did however also suggest I make some scenes a bit darker because it made scenes feel less scary then they should be. Another thing he critiqued about my film was the speed that the titles entered and

Editing Blog: Editing it all together and embedding titles!

We edited the entire film, finally! As you may know, I am not the best editor. For this film however, I did a lot of the editing. I am definitely getting so much better and even though it’s not perfect it’s definitely progress. This process took about two days since it was so much. The first thing I did was insert all of the movie clips that my group mate cut down into iMovie. This process took a long time as there were so many clips to work with and organize. The next thing I did was overlay the music in the background of the film. It took a long time to decide on the song as we were all debating for a while. Once I convinced the group to pick my song, it was smooth sailing with that part. Inserting the music is the easiest thing to do when it comes to editing unlike my next step. Embedding the titles was the hardest thing to do. I have never done this before so I had to research and learn how to. It was extremely confusing and I didn’t know what the best way to go about it was. After
