Critical Reflection

First, the main actor in our movie is in a fatal car crash. Although in the film we are not able to see why the boy gets into the crash it represents the wide issue of texting and driving, drunk driving, and more which are some of the main causes of death worldwide. The boy dying in the end shows that car crashes, while sometimes minor, are a huge problem and can result in injury or even death. By highlighting this aspect we are raising the awareness that no one should drive under the influence or pay attention to distractions such as their phone as something can always go wrong. At the end of our film, we want people to be aware that driving with any sort of distraction in place is irresponsible and should never be done no matter what. My product also represents the gay community. Many films are trying to inco

I had so much fun being in the AICE Media Studies class for two years in a row. This film was so amazing to make and I had a blast. I'm so sad to be saying goodbye to this class. I hope to continue filming later on. Thank you for everything, peace out!

My Dad Peer Reviewed My Film

Image
Hey, it’s me again back at it. I had my dad watch my short film to get an outside perspective. I have watched the film so many times while editing and re-filming that I needed a fresh mind to watch and check for any errors. My dad was first of all very shocked by the editing my group and I did. He said it looked pretty smooth and very professional. I told him that we used iMovie and showed him a few of the features we used to edit our film. He said that the use of iMovie for editing really added to the realism of the film especially the audio we added. My group and I used car crash noises and music to make the film better. All of the music was a free download that I got permission to use. My dad also liked how easy to read the titles were at the beginning. He thought they were fun and looked very creative. Although my dad did really enjoy the film he did have a few things that he recommended we fixed. He thought that a few of our shots didn’t fit in where we had placed them so he tol

Finished Editing!

Hi, it’s me again back at it. My group and I are on to the editing process to make our film finally come together. I am not the biggest fan of editing. It is by far the most difficult part of the short film process for me. I never know which program to use or what transitions to include where. I have gotten a lot better at editing though, so I contributed a lot this time around. The first thing I did was put the clips into iMovie so I was able to get them in order. I had already had some scenes in there so I just added the rest to see the clips all together. Seeing the movie unedited was a little weird but it was pretty cool to see it seamlessly rather than just viewing the individual clips. Seeing the clips also helped me see a few things I wanted to change. My group and I were luckily all together so we could reshoot the few scenes that didn’t fit right. I then added in black screens that took the place of scenes like the car crash scene. I also added the transitions using iMovie.

Finally Done Filming!

Hey again, it's me back at it. My group and I FINALLY finished filming our short film. We only had a little bit left to film after the last time we met but we haven't been able to meet since. I have had to delay our meeting multiple times but I finally was able to meet and so was the rest of my group. My group and I met up at my house like usual to complete the last scenes. All we had to film was the few scenes that took place at my house after he got back from the mall and the hospital scene. The first few scenes were super simple to film. I got to both film and act today as I was in one or two of the scenes. I love the change from filming to acting as it was something different and fun. I changed a few scenes as we filmed them because I felt they were a bit cheesy. I also voted to re-film a few scenes because of the awkward camera angles we had chosen to use. Although, I changed a lot that we had planned to do it still went by pretty quickly. The hospital scene was more diff

No Surprise, Another Delay

Hey, it's me again back at it! Of course, my group and I were not able to meet up to finish our film. We are only one more filming session away from finishing our film. I am so excited to get to edit so I can see this whole film really come together. Sadly, my group and I were too busy to meet up this weekend. My groupmates Jack and Samantha both had work and sports to do so they were too busy to film. I was also too busy all weekend to meet. On Saturday, my family came to town last minute including one of my cousins I had never met before. I had a lot of fun meeting some of my family. We went to lunch and the beach because they are from Colorado so, they don't go to the beach very often. It was a very long day but I had a lot of fun. On Sunday, I had two soccer games scheduled last minute in Miami. Miami is over an hour away from my house so, it took the day to travel there, play both games, and come all the way back. I have been super busy with soccer making it really diffi

Postcard and More Filming!

Hey, it's me again back at it. I have been really working on the postcard as my group and I already have finished making the website. Although we are done with the website, we are still working on the socials. Right now I am working on using a QR code generator to make one to put on our postcard. This QR code is going to link to our Instagram account so people can access our account through the postcard and learn more about our film. I am also creating dates and times for our short film to premiere at the independent movie theater. I decided that our postcard background could be an image of our main actor in a car as that is what our film is all about. I think that by doing this we will better represent our film and draw people into watching it. My group and I have all been extremely busy with school and practice as we are all student-athletes. I have especially been busy because travel soccer just started back up so I am back playing 5-6 days a week. Each time we film we can usu
