My Dad Peer Reviewed My Film

 Hey, it’s me again back at it. I had my dad watch my short film to get an outside perspective. I have watched the film so many times while editing and re-filming that I needed a fresh mind to watch and check for any errors. My dad was first of all very shocked by the editing my group and I did. He said it looked pretty smooth and very professional. I told him that we used iMovie and showed him a few of the features we used to edit our film. He said that the use of iMovie for editing really added to the realism of the film especially the audio we added. My group and I used car crash noises and music to make the film better. All of the music was a free download that I got permission to use. My dad also liked how easy to read the titles were at the beginning. He thought they were fun and looked very creative. Although my dad did really enjoy the film he did have a few things that he recommended we fixed. He thought that a few of our shots didn’t fit in where we had placed them so he told us to move them around a little. Although we had already edited and it was a pain I wanted the film to be perfect. We moved around only a few of the shots but it made a huge difference. He also said I should take one of the shots out completely. I consulted with my group and they thought it was fine especially because we had a few extra seconds we needed to get rid of. This made the film look so good and I was so happy that I had him watch it to give us some feedback. He also checked out my postcard and website and really enjoyed them. He said he liked how easy it was to navigate the website and get onto the social media. I was so happy to hear this and glad that someone was able to see our work and make sure everything was just perfect. Anyways, that’s enough for today, peace out!

Almost done editing!

We are almost completely done editing! Some final touches need to be added to the commercial to make it prettier and cleaner but the overall film and editing is done. I am sadly not the most tech savvy person so editing was on the harder side for me. I have never been able to figure out all the cool editing features for any videos I made even though I love to be in front of the camera. Luckily some of the members in my group could help me out this time and we all split up the work. We all pitched in a little to help the editing process. My task was to import the Twizzlers logo and slogan into the commercial. I couldn’t decide where I wanted the logo to pop up on the screen when editing. Initially, I wanted the logo to dissolve onto the screen but the idea did not look right with the commercial. I finally decided that I wanted the logo to to pop up on the screen over the final scene with a transparent background so your still able to see the scene behind it. I also inserted a background

Dad Reviewed my Blog!

 My dad is a big fan of me taking this AICE media class. He loved my first commercial film so much that he posted on all over social media. He even  sent the film to a producer to try to get it aired on television. I know, he sounds crazy! I thought though, who would be a better person to critique my film than him. So, I played my dad my film and he had a lot of thoughts, both positive and negative. One thing he liked about the film was the intensity. He said that the opening scene would leave some people frightened. Many movies don’t fulfill this aspect of horror movies so it was definitely a high compliment. He also liked that the film followed the horror genre so well. He mentioned that the dark lighting contrast, the setting and acting that we did really helped create a scary tone. He did however also suggest I make some scenes a bit darker because it made scenes feel less scary then they should be.
