How to Make a Short Film

Image
The video "How to make a short film" by film riot will act as a helpful tool. This video gives our group a good sense of what well need to do in creating our short film. Most of this is in the preparation and setup that allows the story to come through within the short amount of time. It says not to write something that wont fit the resources that are available to us. Our short film should be written having in mind the actors as well as the access to equipment we have. We would not be able to perform huge cgi shots or anything from the sky as we don't have the equipment for it and we should plan accordingly. Another important aspect of the film that we should focus on is tone. The video goes over tone as it relates to camera positioning as well as lighting and setting. The tone should be appropriate throughout or else it will lose legitimacy. as for the casting when it comes to this video it says to make sure to get out of them what is needed and we will have to take t...

Switching the Group Up?

Image
Don’t worry, the group didn’t totally break up we only had one member leave and a new one join. For this project I have decided to change my group slightly. My group mate Sarah decided she wanted to work with another group. So,I asked my new friend to work with me instead. I have chosen to work with Sabrina, Michaela, and Olivia. Olivia is the newest member we added to the group this time. Olivia just moved here from Turks and Caicos and is a teammate of mine on my soccer team. We hit it off right when we met each other and I knew right when she told me she had this class her and I would be group mates. Olivia is also really good with technology and loves to film. This skill is super important since we just lost our camera man. This also eliminates the stress of picking positions since she falls into the roll of the spot we were missing. I am also ecstatic about continuing working with my old group mates Sabrina and Michaela. Sabrina was very helpful creating ideas, gathering the props...

Movie Conventions Research: Smile

Image
Hey there! I'm back again and I hope everyone is having a great day! The reason I chose to research the movie smile was due to the fact that it is unsettling, ruthless and thrilling. These are all things in which follow the conventions of
horror and what my group and I would like to accomplish for our final task! The elements simile has in which my group based our movie idea on includes; dramatic exposition and sound, props such as knifes and guns, the different camera angles to draw and create suspense for the viewer. This movie creates an infinite amount of jump scares, visuals and sounds designated to entice and scare its audience. All things in which I hope to achieve in my final task. The elements this movie had in which I throughly enjoyed was the fact it told a story. It was well filmed and edited to attract the viewer and get them to not look away. I am not a person who particularly loves to watch horror movies so I liked the fact there was some humor to it. However, in f...
