We Finally Finished Editing?

Filming is done and so is editing for the most part. Yay! I am not the best at editing and even though my skills improved a little from last project, I am definitely weaker when it comes to this part of the project. I am using iMovie to edit my music video which is one of the more familiar editing platforms to me. I did have to re-learn how to use the app though. I used to make videos when I was younger for middle school but I haven’t used the app in a while. I also only used the app for the transitions and music so, I needed to still learn a lot about the app. It took a while for me to learn how to split videos and remember how to overlap music but my group mate sarah refreshed my memory and I was all set. The first thing that I did was get all of the scenes together in order. I then had to cut down the scenes to where it was perfect. I also had to overlap the music so it lined up and was synced to the acting and lip singing in the music video. This part was one of the hardest processes during the music video by far. I had to split each of the scenes and trim them down even more to get the music to fit with the whole video. Sarah also reminded me that we still needed to add in transitions so. I had to account for how long each transitions would take in order to insert them. We did this because, if we used the wrong transition that took too long or was too short, the song wouldn’t line up either. These few parts of editing took over an hour to do and we still needed to add in a few things. After this it was time to add in the finishing touches. I added a black and white filter over a few of the scenes to show the flashback that was happening. There were a few options of which black and white but I went with the brighter and more clear version. Finally, I added in all of the transitions. Luckily, I timed everything correctly and the transitions fit perfectly and there was no need to trim to fit them. I wanted to try to include a jump cut from scene two to scene three however, the jump cut took longer then the initial fade we planned on which made it unsynchronized with the lip singing scene. Anyways that’s enough about my editing for this music video peace out!
