We finally filmed???


We finally filmed our music video! I am so glad we finally were able to film the video. Our plan’s definitely changed even more than they already had but it worked out well and we got the filming process completed. I had proposed us filming at a group members home and Lauderdale by the sea. This quickly changed to us filming outside my house only. We filmed the last project at my house as well so it wasn’t as stressful getting the house ready. I however, still haven’t put up any Christmas decorations. I know I’m super late with it this year. Anyway, my neighbor luckily had his house decked out in Christmas decorations so, I asked if we could film in front of it and he agreed. My best friend picked my group members and I up from school and took us to the store. I ran around the store searching for materials to make the heart and props that we could include in our video. I found Santa hats, lights, glitter, and everything I needed to make the heart perfect. After that we had to completely improvise and correct the storyboard because we didn’t go to Lauderdale by the sea. It was so packed and I couldn’t find a spot where I could get a clear shot. Scenes 7-9 I planned out on the storyboard for us to walk around a festive town. I changed this to taking a walk down my street which was festive and well decorated. It wasn’t the initial plan but it worked out well with the timing of the song. We were nervous that we wouldn’t have a guy to play the part and act in the end of the video. Thankfully my friend was able to stay and offered to help out. We got all of our props together and one of my group mates and I planned out the specific times we needed to film each scene. This was done so the words of the song would line up to our lip syncing. We got it done though and started filming. Anyways, that’s enough for today peace out!

Another genre I'm researching is thriller. Though similar to horror, thrillers are often meant to invoke a suspense feeling of what’s to come next while horror is more for the scare factor. For thriller, the common camera angels used are high angels. Many are done very slowly to also add to the uneasiness. A Birds eye view is a good movement option for making a character feel powerless and vulnerable which is common in thrillers. Close ups and extreme closeups are best used in showing a characters distress. With this, it sets the audiences moods and builds an effective tension. With costumes and makeup, minimal is always best in helping to keep the scenario real and the characters more relatable. This in turn makes the audience more scared because it’s more real. Movie Conventions Research: Hereditary

Hey guys, I’m back at it! I chose the movie Hereditary to research. I chose this movie because it embodies many aspects of the horror genre, which is what my group and I are basing our movie on. Some elements that the movie Hereditary shows is dark lighting and a suspicious setting throughout most of the intense parts of the film. This film also included weapons, bloody makeup, and special effects to enhance the horror aspect. There were also many angles such as close ups on the actors face to show a scary blank stare and high angles to show a lack of power upon a character. On top of this there were also many frightening sound effects such as screeching, screaming, intensifying spine chilling music, etc. All of these elements found in this film worked to produce an extremely scary horror film. Comparing Le Jetee, the short, and 12 Monkeys, the full-length movie

After watching the video, La Jetee (1962) vs 12 Monkeys (1995), I am able to compare this short film and full length movie. This video details not only the difference in plot and story told by each film, but also the intent and execution which has a large effect on audience. I learned about how even though La Jetee was only audio and still photos the unique story inspired many people and works since it was created in 1962 and is very comparable to 12 monkeys and has stood the test of time. The immense ability to story tell and evoke emotions in the audience qualifies it for many as a short film or, un photo-roman and not a simple slideshow of pictures. Chris Marker was able to tell an incredible story about memory and the passage of time in a short 28 minutes, while 12 monkeys tells a similar story with a full length movie, this however does not mean that 12 monkeys is a better film.
