New Year, New Group

 It's the new year and I am finally in A level media studies. Now that I am in A level Media  I chose to pick an entirely new group! One reason I decided to go with new group mates was because a few of my old group mates did not transition from AS media into A level media. Both Sabrina and Olivia decided not to move on so I had to form a new group all together. Also, last year we had to jump through a lot of hoops when meeting together and filming. Since everyone had opposite schedules it was impossible to ever figure out a time or day that worked for everyone. This time around I made sure to pick group mates that were more willing to move their schedules around and would have more time to dedicate to this project. I am so happy that I found this group and am confident we will work together amazing. One of my group mates is Samantha. She is incredibly good at editing which will really come in handy. While I am definitely getting better at editing, it is always useful to have someone else that can help make things more smooth or add in effects I still haven’t figure out how to use. She is also very comfortable acting and being behind the camera which is a plus since we don’t know who will play what part yet. Jack is the other member in my group. He’s very good at coming up with creative ideas and finding ways on how to uniquely integrate them. This is definitely needed as last year one thing my group struggled with was coming up with ideas and/ or fitting them into our projects. Both of my group mates are not only in my media studies class but are in many others as well. This will be extremely beneficial to our planning and brainstorming as we see each other almost everyday multiple times. We are also all close friends that hang outside of school which makes this project a lot more fun! Although we are all still very busy with the school year and our personal lives, I think that this group will be able to make a better media product than my groups from the past. I believe that this group will also benefit me much more than my past groups had as they want to be there and help with the film. I am so excited to get a fresh new start and a fresh group to go along with it. Anyways, enough about my new group. I promise you will like them!! Peace out!

My product challenged many conventions that are found in Christmas music videos. First , most Christmas music videos use snow or are filmed in a snowy area. As I filmed my video in Florida, there was no snow to incorporate in the video . Instead of snow I went a different route and filmed in front of decorated palm trees and showed my true Floridian Christmas spirit. Another way my product challenged the conventions was most Christmas music videos include back up dancers and all out costumes. My music video was completely the opposite of this as everyone was dressed festive but simpl e . Filmed The Opening Scene

  Hey, it’s me again back at it. Finally, my group and I were able to start filming our short film. Due to our recent delay in filming due to weather we rescheduled filming to today. I had everyone meet at my house at 3:30 with all of the props we would need for the first few scenes. One everyone got to my house I drove everyone to the empty street in my neighborhood where we could film the opening car scene. I was directing and filming this scene as my group mate Jack drove the car. The first scene was slightly difficult to film for me. I had to film a panning shot of the car and it was hard to time my filming with my group mates driving. Instead I suggested we show a wide shot of the car to show he is driving. Then I thought we should have our group mate sitting inside the car with a POV shot of what he’s seeing while driving. This plan was much easier to film and it in the end looked much better. Finally the group got together!

  Hey, it’s me again back at it. My group and I were finally able to meet up and talk out some of the details of our project. The first thing I proposed we talked about was the props situation. I decided that I would buy fake blood and cob webs. I already have fake blood from Halloween at my house so, it was perfect. I also am going to get some old looking sheets to put over places in the setting to make it look a bit more haunted. We officially confirmed that our filming spot would be at my house unless something comes up. My house in under construction so it gives a sort of run down feel. There are also many open lots and construction going on near by. I will have to make sure that there is no debris and we are all safe before we film but I think the spot should be perfect.
