Title Research: Nanny

 Hey there, I used the movie title "Nanny" as it follow the theme and mystery our movie idea. When researching the movie title I came across the website www.artofthetitle.com, I used this website as it was easy to use  navigate and find my research. 

 1.  What titles are displayed during the opening sequences?

- In the opening sequence of the movie titled  "Nanny" it showcases its origin / the organization of where this film was produced. We are introduced with "Amazon Studios Present" before transitioning into its associations.

  2. What images are prioritized in the opening sequences?     - It is mainly prioritizes a black screen which is kept plain throughout the opening and lures in the "Nanny" which is the main target as it is sough out to create a mystery and scare towards its audience. 

 3.  What connotations do these images carry?

   -The plain, black screen carries the connotations of mystery, scare, tragedy and horror. As well as the purpose to present that some type of violence will occur in the film as that is being represented with the plain, black screen leading the viewer to believe that thought. The main aim is to intimidate and fear its audience as this from my groups research would follow the conventions horror seeks. 

 4. How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset?

     -It establishes the feeling of horror as the black plain screen before switching to the lady lying sleepless in bed seeks to intimate and fear the audience. It carries a build up of intense frightful music to showcase the conventions in horror as shown in our genre research.

5. What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience?

 -  Strategies being used to appeal to the audience includes the frightful and creepy music that the genre codes horror follows as well as the build up of intense and knowledge due to the plain black screen which targets something bad / scary is about to happen. 

 6. How has technology been used effectively? You want to consider camera angles, transitions and editing techniques. 

    -The technology for this title has been used effectively as though throughout most of the sequence the same plain black background is kept and the constant drop in and out between the transitions of the text instigates the build up towards the lady lying in bed which includes a cross cut, fade of the mysterious and creepy music and high camera angle

My product challenged many conventions that are found in Christmas music videos. First , most Christmas music videos use snow or are filmed in a snowy area. As I filmed my video in Florida, there was no snow to incorporate in the video . Instead of snow I went a different route and filmed in front of decorated palm trees and showed my true Floridian Christmas spirit. Another way my product challenged the conventions was most Christmas music videos include back up dancers and all out costumes. My music video was completely the opposite of this as everyone was dressed festive but simpl e . Filmed The Opening Scene

  Hey, it’s me again back at it. Finally, my group and I were able to start filming our short film. Due to our recent delay in filming due to weather we rescheduled filming to today. I had everyone meet at my house at 3:30 with all of the props we would need for the first few scenes. One everyone got to my house I drove everyone to the empty street in my neighborhood where we could film the opening car scene. I was directing and filming this scene as my group mate Jack drove the car. The first scene was slightly difficult to film for me. I had to film a panning shot of the car and it was hard to time my filming with my group mates driving. Instead I suggested we show a wide shot of the car to show he is driving. Then I thought we should have our group mate sitting inside the car with a POV shot of what he’s seeing while driving. This plan was much easier to film and it in the end looked much better. Finally the group got together!

  Hey, it’s me again back at it. My group and I were finally able to meet up and talk out some of the details of our project. The first thing I proposed we talked about was the props situation. I decided that I would buy fake blood and cob webs. I already have fake blood from Halloween at my house so, it was perfect. I also am going to get some old looking sheets to put over places in the setting to make it look a bit more haunted. We officially confirmed that our filming spot would be at my house unless something comes up. My house in under construction so it gives a sort of run down feel. There are also many open lots and construction going on near by. I will have to make sure that there is no debris and we are all safe before we film but I think the spot should be perfect. We have not fully decided on a date that we can all meet up. All of us are about to go on break so are schedules are packed. I am either working or out of town the whole break.
